You may have noticed (or not) that we got a facelift from the same old white walls to beautiful new colors. Our studio walls along Elm Street got worked on a few weeks ago by studio artists along with some help from our friends and family.Stop by and take a look for yourself, in the mean time, here are some photos to give you an idea of how we did.

Annual Board Meeting (2011)

At the Annual Meeting last Thursday, SCIART members elected the 2011 Board of Directors. A big THANK YOU to all our 2010 Board Members for their many hours of hard work! Retiring from their duties are Mary Ann Bednar, Gretel Compton, Tom Dodds, Judy Frazier, Gerd Koch, Dan McAllister, Noble “Ace” Powell and Jim LeVander. Newly elected to the board are Rich Brimer, Patti Morgan, Paige Jones Hibbits, Bill Robe, Jeanne Ayers, Joe Halcolm, Brian Hassett, Peggy Pownall and Richard Wagner. SCIART is very fortunate to have such a powerhouse of business leaders and artists on the Board! 2011 Awards

SCIART thanks all our volunteers for contributing to another successful year! SCIART currently has 164 volunteers who recorded a total of 2200 hours in 2010. A special “Congratulations” goes to BJ Fan for “Volunteer of the Year” and Cheryl Huddleston for “Docent of the Year”. Dennis Peterson received the “President’s Choice Award”.

New AIRs

SCIART is happy to announce that two former AIRs returned: Painters Elana Kundell and Patti Robinson moved into C1 in January. Marian Wood, a ceramic artist, will be joining our group as an AIR in February, and new AIR Ellenina Carlson Gaston is getting ready to move in this coming March. SCIART welcomes our new AIRs! Come and visit our 38 Artists-in-Residence in their the studios Thursdays through Saturdays from 11am to 5pm!

All but one of our rooms are occupied. If you are looking for affordable studio space among a creative and welcoming group of professional artists, please apply to become an AIR now! Application packages are available at the office or can be downloaded from our website.
