Works of art by celebrities including Daniel Stern, Howie Mandel, Chris Harrison, Ray Parker Jr. & Julie Carmen will be on display anonymously next to artwork by prominent visual artists from Ventura county and beyond at Studio Channel Islands Art Center’s inaugural benefit exhibition, Mystery Masterpiece, the weekend of September 28-30, 2012. For the cost of an entry ticket to the lively opening party on September 28, guests may select one original work of art, all to benefit the vital regional arts organization. The mystery? All artist signatures are hidden.

Now in it’s 14th year, Studio Channel Islands Art Center has become increasingly important as a resource, center for the arts, and hub for arts education in the Ventura county area. It offers ongoing classes in painting, drawing, fiber arts, ceramics and more for all ages by renowned artists, a children’s camp, art events throughout the year, gallery exhibitions, art scholarships, teacher resources and studio space for nearly 40 artists. The three-day art party and exhibition runs September 28 – 30, 2012 with open studios on Sunday afternoon, September 30 at the former elementary school – turned art studio complex. The ticketed opening party on Friday night, September 28 from 6-9 pm, includes food, wine, live music and selection of an original work of art, while on Saturday, September 29, from noon to 5pm, gallery entrance will be free and open to the public who will have the opportunity to buy unsold works at a great value.

“Beginning collectors may not know the joy of owning an original work of art. We want the community to know that art is accessible and that there is incredible talent in our midst,” said former Studio Channel Islands Art Center president Maggie Kildee. “We want people to come down to the studios to enrich their lives.”
