Studio & Gallery Tours


The Blackboard Gallery is open Tuesday from 11 am to 3 pm, Wednesday through Friday from 11 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. The Artists’ Studios are open to the public every first Saturday of the month between 10 am and 4 pm.

We offer free school field trips for our local schools. In addition, we welcome groups visits and will be happy to arrange a guided tour of the gallery and  studios. Donations are welcome.  If you want to schedule a school or group visit, please email Karin Geiger at Info@StudioChannelIslands.org. 

 

 “The Grand Tour: Exploring the Art Museums of Southern California”

Studio Channel Islands Art Center is excited to announce a new collaboration with  Art Muse, Los Angeles. Clare Kunny, founding director of Art Muse LA, will offer a three part program “The Grand Tour: Exploring the Art Museums of Southern California”, starting with an enlightening and stimulating lecture at the Blackboard Gallery on October 18. The following week-end, Clare and Robin Trento will be our tour guides for a visit to the Norton Simon Museum. Transportation to the museums will not be provided.

Clare Kunny is an art historian who founded Art Muse Los Angeles in 2012 after devoting 28 years to museum education at The Art Institute of Chicago and the J. Paul Getty Museum.

Robin Trento is an art historian and a Los Angeles native.  Working for 23 years in the Education Department at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Robin has developed an unparalleled expertise in discussing and guiding the viewing of art.

Join us for an armchair tour of some remarkable art museums in Southern California.  From San Diego to Santa Barbara, a rich variety of museums hold a vast and important collection of art.  Learn about our local, cultural resources and treasures.  Introductions to the founders and their private collections illustrate the formation of museums such as the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, the Huntington, the Getty, and the Norton Simon.  As we travel along the coast and into the valleys, the network of art museums will be explored.

Admission: $10 (complimentary for Art Immersion Students)
